Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you paint furniture for people? Can you paint my current bedroom set that I brought down from New York and is great quality but is just too dark?
A: Yes! About half of our business is revamping the current furniture of our clients. Many of our clients move down from places like New York or out West and brought their high quality big heavy DARK furniture with them. We will help you every step of the way as we walk you through the design process, work together to choose color and detail options, and get you scheduled as soon as possible.
Q: When and where can I see your items and your colors?
A: We are open Friday from 10-6pm and Saturday from 11-4pm weekly. Our store is found on Google and Apple maps at 3047 Saint Johns Bluff Rd s #3 in Jacksonville, FL. Just look up Refinished By Friday and follow the map! If those two days don't work for you, call or text 904-316-3403 to schedule an appointment.
Q: Do you offer pickup and delivery?
A: Yes, we do! We locally deliver using either the truck or trailer depending on the weather and load size. We professionally blanket and plastic wrap our traveling items, this includes custom work and regular sales. If you are picking up items from the store, please bring your own blankets and we will use them to wrap and then plastic wrap and then send you on your way. First floor delivery is usually preferred.
Q: Do you ever buy and sell items that have smells like smoke or other random smells?
A: We do everything in our power to NEVER purchase or bring into our shop anything with any smells, especially smoke! If we find an item that has smoke smell, we do not proceed with our process on that item. It will be returned to the market or the curb!
Q: Do you offer nation-wide shipping on any items?
A: Yes we offer nation-wide shipping on most everything we have. To ship furniture, we use a third party shipping contractor that allows us to hire movers who will come pack up and pickup the items and travel them across the country. Please contact us directly for a quote on furniture shipping as the website calculates only by weight and not distance so the quote will likely be inaccurate. So far, the furthest delivery we've hired someone to do was to go all the way to California. We even shipped a 400 pound dresser once! We also ship small items like paint products via the website. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask about shipping options.
Q: Can you stain the top of my table or dresser?
A: No, we are not currently structured for staining/stripping. We do not do any paint or finish removal of any kind. If you have an item that is pre-painted, example if you painted it with latex paint 10 years ago, we may not be able to paint it as we would need to remove all the existing finish. Please feel free to contact us anyway. As we do not strip and stain wood, we do excel in the art of faux finishing with wood paint products. All of our tops that look like wood are painted! We can even paint granite. Because of this, we do not do any antique restoration.
Q: Do you do furniture repair?
A: We are not woodworkers, so not really. We can do simple repairs like use Bondo or wood filler to fill gouges or scratches, but we do not replace veneer and we do not cut new pieces of wood to replace old or missing parts. We do replace track glides and can sometimes replace tracks on broken drawers. If your drawers are dropping as you open them, we can likely fix that as its a simple replacement part. Other simple fixes involving wood glue can also be managed.
Q: Do you offer upholstery?
A: Yes, we can upholster small scale projects like dining chair seats but not the backs. If a formal dining chair has an upholstered back peice, we cannot do that as we do not do any sewing. That means we can also NOT do any piping. We do not do couches or large cushions. Small vanity cushions? Yes as we can simply staple gun the new fabric on and around. Dining seats? Yes.
Q: Do you paint the backs of dressers and headboards?
A: Typically no. If the back of the nightstand is an unfinished board, we do not see the need to prep and paint that surface. As we are offering the best price and within the quickest return time to you, we do not like to spend time and effort on areas that go up against a wall. If an end table does have a finished back, or a desk for example, we would paint it as it may go in the middle of a room.
Q: Can you change the hardware? What about the size of the hardware?
A: Yes! In fact , 99% of the items we sell have new hardware. We love to update pieces with new hardware as we feel its the icing on the cake to any newly updated item. If you have an item with single hole knobs, they are very easy to replace. If you have pulls that are measure center of hole to center of hole 3.5" , we can either get new pulls with the same measurement or we can get new ones with in any size. This would allow you to get any size pull that you want. The process includes filling the old holes, sanding the space smooth, and then measuring and drilling new holes to the correct spacing.
